As the new year begins, I am sure many homes across town are marking the day with a familiar meal. Black eyed peas, greens, and cornbread. Each part of that tradition carries meaning.
Those traditions fit naturally in a town like ours. We are a front porch kind of community, where neighbors still wave, conversations happen face to face, and pride in our town runs deep. It is the small things, shared meals, familiar faces, and looking out for one another, that make this place home.
As we step into the year ahead, let us continue to value that small town spirit and take pride in our community.
Happy New Year, Newington.
