Last week, Mayor Overstreet attended the opening session of Leadership Southeast Georgia, a regional leadership initiative serving Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and Screven counties. She is a member of the Leadership Southeast Georgia Class of 2026, a cohort of community leaders selected to build stronger connections across the coastal region.
This program brings together public officials, business leaders, and community partners with the shared goal of strengthening Southeast Georgia through collaboration, professional development, and practical problem solving.
Building Regional Connections
The session began in Glynn and Camden counties, highlighting the unique mix of industry, small business, tourism, and national defense that drives this region. From locally owned enterprises to maritime and military installations, participants gained firsthand insight into the strengths and complexities that shape our area.
Before the tours began, the group focused on establishing ground rules, defining shared goals, and building relationships. Effective leadership is built on trust and clear communication, and that foundation was established from the start.
Thinking Beyond County Lines
One of the biggest takeaways from this first session is that regional collaboration works. When leaders from across ten counties sit at the same table, the focus shifts from isolated issues to shared solutions.
Participation in this program helps ensure the town stays connected to regional initiatives that impact economic development, infrastructure, and public services.
Mayor Overstreet’s involvement ensures that the town has a seat at the table and access to ideas and partnerships that help us better serve the people who call this town home.
More updates will follow as the program continues.
